Approved applications trigger the need for an inspection, permit of a low speed shuttle, and a low speed shuttle driver's license.

Conditions & Exceptions

Renewals are required every 5 years and on amendment.

What You Need
  • Vehicle-for-Hire License/Permit (Non-Taxicab) Application Packet, including:
    • Traffic warrant check from Municipal Courts
    • Proof of insurance: ACORD 25 form from your insurance agent
    • Criminal history check: certain items in a 10-year history may require a hearing to authorize or deny. The hearing is conducted in compliance with the Texas Occupations Code standards. 
    • Listing of rates (preferably on company letterhead; designated by zone, if applicable)
    • Low Speed Shuttle Zone (provided on a map)
    • Color scheme
  • Method of payment: cash, check, cashier’s check, money order, or debit/credit card
Apply in Person
  1. Bring the completed application packet and payment to the Houston Permitting Center.
  2. Obtain a numbered ticket from the Information Desk. Please wait in the lobby until your number is called.
