The Stormwater Section of the Office of the City Engineer provides guidelines for detention and drainage design, reviews stormwater plans for residential and commercial developments, and issues Stormwater Quality (SWQ) permits. It also oversees the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Program, serving as a liaison between the City of Houston and public agencies such as Harris County. The team ensures compliance with standards set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) while collecting data for the MS4 Program and participating in periodic audits to maintain regulatory compliance.
