The 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC) was adopted by the State of Texas and became effective September 1, 2023.
The City of Houston has started reviewing electrical plans in compliance with the 2023 NEC. All permit applications submitted on or after the state-mandated effective date will be reviewed for compliance with the new state minimum electrical code.
(Specifically, all project numbers submitted after #23084587 will be reviewed under the 2023 NEC.)
