Effective May 4, 2026, the Houston Fire Marshal’s Office will serve as the primary point of contact for the submission and verification of all Emergency Responder Communication Coverage (ERCC) compliance documentation, as well as related inquiries.

The current testing procedures and documentation requirements will remain in place at this time.

Contractors and installers registered with the City of Houston should direct all documentation, including testing reports, post-installation documents, and completed Houston Permitting Center-specific forms, to the Houston Fire Marshal’s Office for processing, including any compliance-related questions.

Building Code Enforcement will continue to manage the registration process for ERCC system designers, installers, and special inspectors at this time.
