NEW Commercial User Guide Update: Simplified Resubmittal Response Process

As of September 1, 2025, the Building Code Enforcement Plan Review team has simplified the resubmittal process.

For responding to comments in general, the applicant is no longer required to provide a written narrative in the applicant response folder as long as an adequate response is provided for each comment in the applicant resubmit task.

Responses should:

  1.  Summarizes the change made
  2.  Specifies where it appears in the plans.

Acceptable response: “Door #3 corrected to 1-hour rating; see updated door schedule on sheet A2.”

FAQ: When is a response letter required in the applicant response folder?

  • When approved stamped sheets are replaced with new versions after department or trade approval
  • When major revisions are made between review cycles, such as a redesign or significant change to the project scope.
  • When comment responses in the applicant resubmit task refers to a separate response sheet (e.g., “see response letter”).

If a narrative sheet is not provided in these cases, the project will be considered incomplete and returned during the pre-screen or resubmit review.
