Valet zone means the area or space officially designated by the traffic engineer as a pick-up and drop-off zone within a roadway as indicated by appropriate signs or markings for the use of valet parking service providers operating under permit issued by the city.
Valet parking storage location means the location at which a valet parking service operator parks vehicles accepted from the operator of a vehicle during the course of providing a valet parking service.
Valet parking service means accepting, parking and returning a vehicle on behalf of the operator of the vehicle regardless of whether a fee is charged.
- Street signage will be installed at the location to identify the area and operational period for the valet zone.
- Permittee must pay signage fees for installation and manufacturing.
- Valet zone permit is also provided to establishment to provide for inspection at the valet stand.
Parking citations
All delinquent parking citations must be resolved before permit can be issued.
Valet Operator
The establishment must hire a permitted valet operator.
Additional fees
Permit is subject to sales tax.
First-time applicants are also charged the following fees:
- Postage fees - the cost of postage to provide written notice to property owners and occupants within 200 feet of the proposed valet zone.
- Signage fees of $350.20 - the cost of making and installing the required signage.

Traffic engineer review
The completed application and supplemental documentation will be submitted to Houston Public Work's Traffic Engineer's Office for review. The applicant will be notified of approval/denial.
If denied, the applicant is allowed to appeal the decision in writing within 10 business days from the receipt of a denial notice.
A renewal notice is mailed out approximately 1 month prior to expiration.
