Service Animal/Certified Assistance, hearing or seeing dogs that have been sterilized may, upon application, obtain a sterilized pet license without paying any fee therefor except a license renewal fee.
License tags are required to be worn by the animal at all times.
All provided documentation must be current or license will not be issued.
- Current rabies vaccination certificate signed by a veterinarian
- Other clear and convincing evidence that the animal has been spayed or neutered, if not reflected on rabies certificate
- Proof the owner lives within the City of Houston jurisdiction
- Current government-issued photo identification
- Method of payment: cash (in person only), check, cashier's check, money order or credit card (online only)

License will be issued once all is completed.

Please send copies of your paperwork and retain the originals for your records. Copies will not be returned with your license receipt.
A renewal invoice is mailed 30 to 45 days prior to the expiration date. It is the responsibility of the owner to contact BARC licensing department prior to expiration date if an invoice is not received.
