Update: Advanced Pay Account Ending in 2024

Advanced Pay Account (APA)

The Houston Permitting Center will be retiring all Advanced Pay Accounts (APA) on December 31, 2024.  

Starting on January 1, 2024: 

  •  NO new Advanced Pay Accounts may be opened 

Account holders will have until November 30, 2024 to draw down their balance and close their account. 

A request to close an APA account can be processed at any time and customers will receive a refund for their APA balance.

What is the last day I can make a purchase using my APA funds? 

  • November 30, 2024 

What if I have a balance after November 30, 2024, what will happen to my account? 

  • If an account holder’s balance is not drawn down by November 30, 2024 then the Houston Permitting Center will begin reaching out to individual account holders to request information to begin the account close/refund process. In the case that an account holder cannot be reached, the Houston Permitting Center will submit the unclaimed accounts to the City of Houston Controller’s Office or the Texas State Comptroller’s Office, in accordance with applicable regulations.
