Permit Description

A charter/sightseeing license is required to operate a permitted charter/sightseeing vehicle in the City of Houston.

After Approval

Driver must have license on their person while operating a permitted CSS vehicle.

Conditions & Exceptions

Criminal history check - certain items in a 10-year history may require a hearing to authorize or deny. The hearing is conducted in compliance with the Texas Occupations Code standards.

  • Applicant packet - COH Driver's License, including: 
    • Traffic warrant check from Municipal Courts 
    • Texas Driver's License 
    • Criminal history check: certain items in a 10-year history may require a hearing to authorize or deny. The hearing is conducted in compliance with the Texas Occupations Code standards.
  • Method of payment: cash, check, cashier’s check, money order, or debit/credit card
Apply in Person
  1. Bring the completed application packet and payment to the Houston Permitting Center.
  2. Obtain a numbered ticket from the Information Desk. Please wait in the lobby until your number is called.

Applicant must renew before expiration date on current license. It is the responsibility of the license holder to contact the ARA department prior to expiration date.
