State of Texas Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Contractor License
A licensed contractor that wants to do work within the City of Houston limits must register their state license with this jurisdiction and purchase a permit for work to be done.
To register your State Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Contractor License with the City of Houston, the following must be provided:
- Registration Form for State Air Conditioning License (Form CE- 1307)
- Copy of State of Texas license card,
- A form of official picture identification, i.e. Driver’s License, State I.D. card, etc.,
- A copy of the certificate of insurance bearing the licensee’s business affiliation. The licensee’s name and license number must also appear on the certification as “insured” or “additional insured”. The Certificate Holder information should be as follows:

5. A method of payment: cash, credit card or check
6. An iPermits Acknowledgement Form if they are a first-time user of the iPermits system.

- Submit all documents via email at [email protected]
- Staff will process your request and generate a sales order for the registration fee
- Log in or register for an iPermits account
- Pay the registration fee
- A receipt will be emailed to you

A renewal notice is mailed 90 days prior to the expiration date. It is the responsibility of the licensee to contact the Mechanical Section for a notice.
