Please look here first if you have a question about the Antique Dealer License or Secondhand Reseller License Letter that you received.

 

Why did I receive this notice?
In order to operate as an Antique Dealer or Secondhand Reseller in the City of Houston, you must be licensed in accordance with Chapter 7 of the City of Houston Code of Ordinances.

 How can I pay?
To pay by mail, please complete the information on your application and return with $129.03 fee to:

Make all checks payable to the City of Houston
**We do NOT accept credit card payments through the mail or any payment over the phone**

If you prefer to pay in person, you can pay by check, cashier’s check, money order or credit card (MC/V/D/AE) at the Houston Permitting Center located at 1002 Washington Avenue, 1st Floor, Houston, TX 77002. Please bring your completed application with you.  

 

Is this something that I HAVE to pay?
Yes.  If you operate an antique or secondhand reseller business as described in Chapter 7 of the City Code of Ordinances and your facility is in the city limits, you are required to get this license.
 

What Ordinance does this pertain to?
Chapter 7 of the City of Houston Code of Ordinances.

What is my fee as an Antique Dealer?
Presently, the fee for a new license is $103.23.  A $25.80 administrative fee is also payable upon application or renewal. The total cost for the new license, including administrative fee, is $129.03. 

 

What is my fee as A Secondhand Reseller?
Presently, the fee for a new license is $309.69.  A $25.80 administrative fee is also payable upon application or renewal. The total cost for the new license, including administrative fee, is $335.49.

 

When is my fee due?
This application must be returned with payment within 30 days of the mailing date on this letter.  
 

What is a Surety Bond?
An example of a Surety Bond is provided as part of the application that you received.  You may request the Surety Bond from any Insurance Company or Bond Agency of your choice.

My store is not an antique store or secondhand reseller store
Please sign and send the notice back to remove your name from the mailing list.  Or contact our Office at 832-394-8803 Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Please be aware that any claim of exemption will be subject to verification by inspection.

I have already paid for this license.
Please return the notice with a copy of your license.  Or contact our Office at 832-394-8803 Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Please have proof of your payment on-hand for reference.
