The Houston Permitting Center combines the majority of the City of Houston's permitting and licensing into one convenient location. We opened in June 2011 with a mission to help customers achieve their goals while complying with the City’s regulations. Providing excellent service, streamlining business processes, implementing innovative technologies, and proactively engaging customers are all cornerstones of our mission.

UPDATE: As of 7:30 pm, all network services have been restored.  As of 4 pm, the network is running on a backup system. Some groups may experience latency issues or intermittent outages.
On Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, the Houston Permitting Center will switch online payment portals from PayConnexion to Paymentus. Users will still access the payment portal through iPermits after a sales order or shopping cart is created.
In early 2023, the Houston Permitting Center will be upgrading ProjectDox to version 9.2. The new version will have an updated look and improved applicant experience. New features include:
Effective Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, private detention, restrictor design, and calculations must be provided on plans submitted through Building Code Enforcement's private plan review process in lieu of a separate plan submission through the Office of City Engineer.
